Description
Overview
In a compounding pharmacy the cabinet is not judged on how quietly it runs, but on whether you can prove it was running correctly when the batch was prepared. The A2 Premium replaces the airflow sensor with a pressure sensor and a controller that logs the state of the cabinet, so the daily check has something to attach to.
The cabinet is built to EN 12469 with a pressure-decay-style plenum, a digital display showing downflow, inflow and filter load, and dry contacts for a building management system. The sash is motorised, which matters when the operator is holding a syringe and cannot reach for a handle.
It is specified for USP 797 sterile compounding of non-hazardous drugs. If your formulary includes hazardous drugs under USP 800, use the B2 Total Exhaust instead — no A2 cabinet, however well monitored, is acceptable there.
Key features
- Pressure-based airflow control. The controller regulates plenum pressure rather than fan speed, which keeps the airflow stable as the filters load and the room pressure changes.
- Traceable operating record. Downflow, inflow, filter load and alarm history are held in the controller and can be exported for the batch file.
- Motorised sash with anti-pinch. The sash is driven, not lifted. Operators working with both hands keep their posture and the sash stops on obstruction.
- Dry contacts for BMS. Alarm and status outputs are available as volt-free contacts, so the cabinet can report into the pharmacy monitoring system.

Where you would install it
- USP 797 compounding. Sterile non-hazardous compounding with a documented airflow record.
- Hospital pharmacy. IV admixture preparation where the cabinet reports into the cleanroom BMS.
- Compounding outsourcing. Batch records that need cabinet status at the time of preparation.
Frequently asked questions
Is this cabinet suitable for hazardous drugs?
No. Hazardous drug compounding under USP 800 requires total exhaust. Specify the B2 Total Exhaust.
What does the controller actually log?
Downflow and inflow setpoints and actual values, filter load, sash position and every alarm event, with timestamps that can be exported for the batch record.
