APPLICATIONS

Anaerobic Incubators & Workstations Applications & Use Cases

Application-led selection for real laboratory workflows.

Oxygen removal: gas replacement plus catalyst

Repeated vacuum-and-refill cycles remove most oxygen; a palladium catalyst then combines residual oxygen with hydrogen to form water. The catalyst is consumable, needs regeneration, and requires a hydrogen-containing gas mix to work at all.

Gloves, access and the room

A glove-port workstation fixes the operator position and the reach. A smaller chamber with good access often beats a larger chamber the technician cannot reach into. Gas cylinders, vacuum and the catalyst service all need space behind the unit.

PERFORMANCE & SELECTION

Who needs a workstation rather than a jar

An anaerobic jar is a consumable-scale tool. A workstation lets a technician manipulate plates and colonies without ever exposing them to air, which is what strict anaerobes and time-course work require. The decision is about how much handling happens inside the atmosphere.

  • Strict anaerobes and time-course sampling
  • Colony picking and sub-culture inside the chamber
  • Clinical or environmental work needing documented anaerobiosis

CONFIGURATION & COMPATIBILITY

The airlock is the bottleneck

Every transfer passes through an airlock that must be evacuated and refilled. A cycle that takes 15 minutes limits throughput more than the chamber volume does, and a leaking airlock quietly raises the oxygen level in the working chamber.

  • Compare airlock cycle time and chamber recovery time
  • Ask for the oxygen limit at the working position, not at the sensor
  • Check the airlock capacity against the number of plates you transfer per session
