APPLICATIONS

Explosion-Proof Vacuum Drying Ovens Applications & Use Cases

Application-led selection for real laboratory workflows.

The pump and exhaust are part of the safety case

A flameproof chamber does not make an ordinary vacuum pump safe. The pump, exhaust routing, ventilation and any solvent recovery must be appropriate for the solvent and the room. The chamber should not be commissioned without a site-specific review.

Document the installation and price the accessories

ATEX equipment requires traceable documentation, correct installation and operator training. The chamber price does not normally include the vacuum pump, installation, calibration or extended warranty.

PERFORMANCE & SELECTION

Why an ordinary vacuum oven is not enough

Drying flammable solvents creates a flammable atmosphere inside the chamber and potentially at the pump and exhaust. An ATEX-rated safety vacuum chamber uses a flame-protection concept, pressure-controlled heating and compatible components to reduce ignition risk.

  • Laboratories drying solvent-wet samples
  • Pharmaceutical, chemical and electronics processes
  • Sites that require a documented ATEX classification

CONFIGURATION & COMPATIBILITY

Understand the temperature and pressure envelope

The VDL 23 operates from +9 °C above ambient to 110 °C and covers 0–1,100 mbar. The lower temperature limit is not a limitation to hide; it is part of the safety concept for solvent drying and must be matched to the solvent and sample.

  • Confirm the solvent boiling point and required pressure
  • Stay within the chamber temperature and pressure ratings
  • Review the pressure-control and automatic-ventilation sequence
