Laboratory Incubators

Incubators selected by biological constraint first: what grows, at which temperature, under which atmosphere, and what evidence the work must leave behind. Ranges from 20 L benchtop cabinets to 1,000 L reach-in and cleanroom-installed chambers, with CO2, O2, humidity, shaking and photoperiod options.

APPLICATIONS

Laboratory Incubators Applications & Use Cases

Application-led selection for real laboratory workflows.

Treat contamination control as a specification, not an accessory

Sterilisation method, chamber material, HEPA filtration on CO2 units and condensate handling determine how often the chamber has to be taken out of service. A 180 °C dry-heat cycle, a UV lamp and a 90 °C humid cycle are not interchangeable claims.

Plan the room, the power and the documentation

Incubators fail commissioning for mundane reasons: no clearance for the door swing, a circuit that cannot carry the compressor start current, or a chamber that cannot be moved through the corridor. Regulated work also needs calibration certificates and a qualification pack that arrives with the unit.

PERFORMANCE & SELECTION

Start from the organism, not the cabinet size

An incubator is only correctly specified once the organism, the working temperature, the acceptable drift and the atmosphere are fixed. A 165 L chamber and a 165 L chamber with CO2 control are different products with different contamination risks and different running costs.

  • State the organism and the target temperature, including any cold-side requirement below ambient
  • Decide whether the work needs CO2, reduced O2, elevated humidity or agitation before comparing volumes
  • Check that the uniformity figure is quoted at your working temperature, not only at 37 °C
Start from the organism, not the cabinet size
CONFIGURATION & COMPATIBILITY

Match the heat-transfer and cooling principle

Direct-heat and air-jacketed chambers recover quickly and are simple to service. Water jackets hold temperature through short power interruptions but add weight and maintenance. Compressor cooling reaches below ambient; Peltier cooling removes the refrigerant and the vibration at the cost of a narrower band and a smaller cabinet.

  • Choose a water jacket when temperature hold-through matters more than weight
  • Choose Peltier when vibration or refrigerant restrictions rule out a compressor
  • Confirm that the published band is achievable at your ambient temperature, not only in a conditioned room
