Description
Overview
Not every laboratory has room for a 4 ft cabinet on a stand. The A2 Compact starts at 2 ft (700 mm) wide with a 540 mm deep work zone, which fits a bench bay and still gives you Class II Type A2 containment rather than a clean bench with a sash.
The cabinet keeps the features that matter at this size: a motorised sash, an airflow sensor, ULPA supply and exhaust filters, and the same 304 stainless work zone as the full-size range. What it does not have is the depth — so it suits smaller vessels, slides, plates and sample handling rather than bulk media preparation.
It is used in teaching laboratories, point-of-care settings, veterinary clinics and satellite laboratories where a full-size cabinet would never fit through the door.
Key features
- 2 ft to 6 ft in one platform. Start at 700 mm wide and scale to 1500 mm without changing the service parts or the control interface.
- Motorised sash. A small cabinet is often used seated; the driven sash keeps the working height consistent between operators.
- EC blower with constant airflow. Airflow is held as the filter loads, so the annual certification does not drift between visits.
- Compact footprint, full Class II protection. 540 mm deep work zone in a 700 mm cabinet — a clean bench footprint with biosafety containment.

Where you would install it
- Small laboratories. A bench bay that cannot take a 4 ft cabinet on a stand.
- Teaching. Point-of-use containment next to the bench rather than in a separate room.
- Veterinary and clinical. Sample handling where a full-size cabinet is unnecessary.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 2 ft model still a Class II cabinet?
Yes. It has the same downflow, inflow and filtration as the larger models; only the working width and depth are reduced.
Can I put it on an existing bench?
Yes, provided the bench is level and can take the weight, and there is 200 mm of clearance above the exhaust filter.
