Climate Chambers

A climate chamber is the only laboratory cabinet defined by holding temperature and relative humidity at the same time. Everything else in the category, from a 56 litre humidity cabinet to a 4,500 litre walk-in room, is a variation on how tightly that pair of setpoints is held, over what volume, and for how many months without drift. This hub groups the seven families we supply so you can start from your protocol rather than from a model number.

APPLICATIONS

Climate Chambers Applications & Use Cases

Application-led selection for real laboratory workflows.

What a quotation has to state

Most delays in this category come from quotations that omit the site conditions, not from the equipment itself.

Choosing between a cabinet and a room

The crossover is around 2,000 to 2,500 litres, and it is driven by access rather than by volume.

PERFORMANCE & SELECTION

How the seven families differ

The split is by what the chamber is asked to prove, and that decides the refrigeration, the sensor set and the documentation package.

  • Constant climate chambers hold a setpoint for months: compressor or Peltier cooling, active humidification and dehumidification, 10–80 %RH or wider.
  • ICH stability chambers add the qualification paperwork and the alarm hierarchy that a GMP auditor expects.
  • Photostability chambers add a calibrated light source for ICH Q1B, either fluorescent D65 plus UV-A or a xenon arc.
  • Test chambers ramp: -40 to +180 °C at 3–15 K/min for IEC 60068 and automotive specifications.
  • Walk-in rooms replace the cabinet with a panel-build room when the batch no longer fits through a door.
  • Benchtop and humidity chambers cover the 36–250 L range where bench space decides the purchase.

CONFIGURATION & COMPATIBILITY

The three numbers that decide the price

Volume is the number buyers quote and the least important one. Range, ramp rate and humidity floor move the price far more.

  • Humidity floor: reaching 20 %RH needs a desiccant or dry-air path
  • 10 %RH needs active dehumidification, which is a different machine.
  • Ramp rate: 3 K/min and 15 K/min chambers share a footprint and differ by a cascade refrigeration pack.
  • Volume: doubling the chamber roughly doubles the panel area and the compressor duty, not the control electronics.
