Vertical Laminar Flow
A vertical laminar flow hood (also called a vertical laminar flow cabinet or vertical clean bench) directs HEPA/ULPA filtered air downward from the ceiling of the cabinet, over the work surface and out through the front or bottom. The vertical airflow covers the work evenly and is the preferred choice when operators handle material above the work surface, and for cell culture and sterile compounding where downward sweep is safest. Vertical flow hoods are available as benchtop clean benches and floor-standing cabinets in single-person and double-person widths from 2ft to 6ft.
