Mechanical convection, ±1°C at 100°C

Forced Air Drying Ovens

A forced air drying oven is a mechanical convection oven: a blower circulates hot air across the chamber instead of letting heat rise on its own. The result is a hot air oven that dries in hours what a gravity oven needs a night for, and holds every shelf within about a degree of the setpoint. If your samples are stacked, powdery or wet, forced air circulation is not a luxury — it is the difference between a dry result and a damp excuse. WSHLab builds two formats of forced convection oven. The RDO benchtop series (45L to 245L) lives on the bench with LED digital or touchscreen control. The RGL vertical series (20L to 210L) stands on the floor with adjustable air louvers, putting a large chamber where bench space does not exist. All models run RT+10°C to 300°C with PID control, a double-layer glass window and a silicone door seal rated for continuous duty. Both series share the same chamber architecture — stainless interior with rounded corners, horizontal airflow from a low-noise blower, and 10-speed airflow adjustment on upgraded models — so a lab that owns one already knows how to run the other.

Where forced air drying ovens earn their bench space

From teaching labs to QC floors, the same convection loop dries glassware, powders and samples on a reproducible schedule.

Electronics workshops — moisture removal before coating or potting

Gentle horizontal airflow will not scatter light components

Soil and environmental labs — soil drying oven for moisture determination

Long stable runs, self-tuning PID

PERFORMANCE & SELECTION

What is a forced air drying oven?

It is a laboratory convection oven where a motorised blower pushes heated air across the chamber in a controlled loop. Compared with a natural convection oven, the lab forced air oven reaches setpoint faster, recovers faster after the door opens, and keeps every shelf inside the uniformity envelope. This matters most for glassware drying, powder drying and sample drying where wet and dry zones in the same chamber ruin reproducibility.

  • Mechanical convection: blower-driven hot air circulation oven, horizontal airflow
  • ±1°C fluctuation at 100°C, ±2.5% uniformity documented
  • PID self-tuning controller with timer and over-temperature alarm
  • PT100 sensor, 0.1°C resolution, from RT+10°C to 300°C

CONFIGURATION & COMPATIBILITY

Benchtop forced air ovens: the RDO series

The RDO benchtop oven covers 45L to 245L in a compact chassis that fits a standard lab bench. LED digital control is standard; touchscreen models add programmable segments. The 304-stainless C-series adds 10-speed adjustable airflow and a safety lock.

  • RDO capacities: 45L, 70L, 136L, 210L, 245L — heaters 1000W to 3000W
  • Double-layer tempered glass window on every model
  • Shelves: 2 standard, up to 10 positions on the 210L and 245L
  • 304 stainless interior on C-series; 201 stainless on base models

Traceability

Traceability from heater to serial number

Heater, blower and controller serials are recorded against the oven serial, so service parts match the unit they belong to.

  • Factory test report filed per serial number
  • Replacement heaters, seals and shelves matched by model and serial
  • Calibration certificate available for ISO/IEC 17025-aligned labs

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Forced Air Drying Ovens: frequently asked questions

The questions buyers ask most often when specifying Forced Air Drying Ovens, answered by our technical team.

What temperature uniformity do forced air drying ovens achieve?

±1°C fluctuation at 100°C with the blower running, and ±2.5% uniformity across the chamber on the RDO series. Forced circulation keeps the whole load inside the envelope, not just the shelf near the sensor.

Should I choose a benchtop or a vertical model?

Choose by lab space and load height, not by capacity alone. The RDO benchtop suits daily glassware and sample volumes up to 245L; the RGL vertical keeps the same chamber capacity on a floor footprint of roughly 0.5 m² when bench space is gone.

Can I get a 304 stainless chamber?

Yes — 304 stainless is standard on the RDO C-series and the RGL 304SS models; 201 stainless is the standard on base versions. All chambers have rounded corners for cleaning.

Are digital or touchscreen controls available?

Both. LED digital control is standard, and the upgraded RDO models add a touchscreen controller with programmable segments. All controllers include timer, over-temperature alarm and self-tuning.
