Description
Overview
Every design decision in the B2 follows from one requirement: no air returns from the work zone to the room. The exhaust filter, the plenum, the bag-out port and the duct are all part of the containment boundary, and the cabinet is certified as a system rather than as a box.
That makes the installation a project. You need a dedicated duct sized to the exhaust volume, make-up air to match it, and a room that stays negative to the corridor at full flow. A B2 cabinet on an undersized duct will alarm continuously and will not hold containment, however good the cabinet is.
WSHLab builds the B2 from 4 ft to 6 ft, with a pressure sensor that holds total exhaust as the filters load, and a bag-out arrangement for the exhaust filter so service does not open the contaminated plenum to the room.
Key features
- 100% total exhaust. No recirculation path exists. Everything that enters the work zone leaves through the exhaust ULPA filter and the duct.
- Bag-out filter access. The exhaust filter is changed through a bag-out port on the contaminated side, protecting the service engineer and the room.
- Pressure sensor and duct static alarm. The cabinet monitors plenum pressure and duct static separately, so a blocked duct alarms before containment is lost.
- Cytotoxic-rated configuration. UL 1805 and UL 586 configurations, stainless work zone and a coved sump for spill control.

Where you would install it
- USP 800 compounding. Hazardous drug preparation with total external exhaust.
- Cytotoxic API handling. Powder weighing and dispensing where particles must not return to the room.
- Volatile toxic chemicals. Solvent and reagent work that cannot be recirculated.
Frequently asked questions
Can a canopy connection make an A2 cabinet equivalent to B2?
A canopy captures the exhaust but the cabinet still recirculates internally, so it is not equivalent. For USP 800, specify B2.
What duct size do I need?
Size for the exhaust volume on the datasheet — 1200 m³/h for the 4 ft model, 1900 m³/h for the 6 ft — and keep duct velocity within the range your HVAC engineer specifies.
