Description

Overview

The P1/P2 benchtop PP fume hood is the answer when the chemistry is corrosive: welded 5-8mm polypropylene body, 5mm PP liner and 5mm PP baffle — no metal anywhere in the airstream. Concentrated acids and alkalis that attack coated steel and stain stainless simply do not register on polypropylene.

The chamber carries the same discipline as the all-steel series: 0.4-0.6 m/s face velocity through the three-section baffle, a 5mm tempered glass vertical sash, high-brightness LED lighting and an LCD control panel. Exhaust volumes run 1036-1684 m³/h by width, ducting from the top plenum in standard PP duct.

P1/P2 benchtop hoods mount on the bench or a PP base cabinet and assemble from welded panels. Specify them for acid digestion, etching, plating prep and any wet chemistry where corrosion — not fire load — is the design constraint.

Key features

  • 5-8mm welded polypropylene body. seamless PP chamber, liner and baffle — no metal in the airstream, no coating to fail
  • Acid and alkali resistant throughout. concentrated mineral acids, bases and salt solutions leave no trace on the chamber surfaces
  • 5mm PP three-section baffle. uniform sweep of floor, work zone and ceiling holds containment at every sash height
  • 5mm tempered glass sash. vertical rising, counterweighted, with full visibility of the work
  • LED lighting and LCD panel. vapor-tight lighting and splash-proof controls in a chamber that wipes clean
  • Corrosion-matched ducting. PP duct spigot and ductwork options for the full exhaust run
  • ASHRAE 110 verification. face velocity mapped before dispatch; SEFA 1 construction practice

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

PP Benchtop Fume Hood: frequently asked questions

The questions buyers ask most often when specifying PP Benchtop Fume Hood, answered by our technical team.

Why polypropylene instead of steel?

Concentrated acids and alkalis corrode coated steel and stain stainless; welded PP puts no metal and no coating in the airstream — the chamber simply shrugs off the chemistry.

What widths are available?

1200, 1500 and 1800mm, matching the all-steel series, so a laboratory can standardise duct and layout across materials.

What exhaust volume?

1036 / 1360 / 1684 m³/h at 1200 / 1500 / 1800mm, with PP ductwork options for the full corrosive run.

Is it suitable for perchloric acid?

The benchtop P-series handles general acid work; for dedicated perchloric acid service we specify the PP floor-standing configuration with washdown-ready surfaces.
